I had a very horrible experience with this dental office, and I can’t stop regretting choosing this clinic.
Last year, I had a root canal on #3, and ever since then, the gum around that tooth would sometimes become swollen. This time, it stayed swollen for over two months.
I went back there a few weeks ago, and they assumed #4 was the issue. They said the nerve was “shrinking.” They sounded very unsure, but still proceeded to open a big hole in #4 and put IRM in it without properly explaining what they were going to do or the risks involved. They said they were trying to avoid another root canal.
A few days later, I went to another dental clinic for a second opinion. They confirmed that the issue was actually coming from #3, not #4. They recommended that I see an endodontist. They even questioned why there was IRM placed in #4. When I explained that the other dentist said the nerve was “shrinking,” they looked confused.
A few weeks later, I went back to this clinic to ask for a permanent filling on #4. A dentist I had never seen before came in and immediately said that a root canal was the only option because the tooth had been opened too deeply. They did not reevaluate the tooth or ask me how it felt. I was also told that if I did not get the root canal within two years, I might have to pay out of pocket, and that if I got the tooth filled somewhere else and experienced pain later, they would not help fix it. She even said there was a cavity, which totally contradicted what I had been told when they first drilled #4. I trusted them blindly, so they started treating me like a fool.
Later, I visited an endodontist who confirmed that #4 could still be restored with a filling, although so much tooth structure had already been removed that a crown was recommended.
The endodontist also confirmed that #3 was a failed root canal with a missed canal. The root filling extended about 1.5 mm beyond the root tip, and the crown did not seal properly. I was told that the tooth now has a poor prognosis and is no longer saveable.
Given what happened with #4, I am starting to question whether #3 truly needed a root canal last year, so I emailed them to request the X-rays of #3 taken before the treatment. They sent me one that was very blurry, and it does not appear to show a deep cavity.
This experience has been extremely stressful and emotionally draining. They didn’t fix my teeth; they gave me a failed root canal and ruined #4 because they misdiagnosed my case (or intentionally ruined it after they saw a chance to milk my insurance). They even tried to pressure me into getting a second unnecessary root canal. They are very inconsistent, sloppy, and money hungry.
