I worked with Dr. Stephanie Chin during a period when I was going through a pretty significant identity shift after leaving a career in clinical medicine. I had been in therapy for years before meeting her, but I honestly made more progress with her in a relatively short amount of time than I had in a long time prior. She has a way of helping you see the patterns that are holding you back without making you feel judged. One of the biggest breakthroughs for me was realizing how much I had been getting in my own way...especially around fear of what family or people in my community might think about the unconventional path I was taking. Dr. Chin helped me work through that and encouraged me to pursue the creative things I actually care about instead of the things I felt I “should” be doing. She also helped me set healthier boundaries with certain people in my life, which has made a huge difference in how I show up day to day. For the first time in almost a decade, I feel like I’m out of a long funk and genuinely excited about going after things I’m passionate about. In fact, I’ve reached a point where I feel like I may not need therapy right now for the issues I had been struggling with for so long, which I see as a testament to the work we did together. I’m really grateful for the role she played in helping me get here, and I’d highly recommend her to anyone navigating a major life transition or feeling stuck in their identity or direction.
