I went in to apply for a job. Before being hired, you are required to speak with a coordinator. They called the coordinator over to meet with me. The coordinator was rude. I understand that theirs is a high-stress job; however, I was not rude to her, and I was simply trying to determine whether her offer was a good fit for me. I have been working in this field for 15 years, and I have never before encountered such an unprofessional dynamic between a coordinator and an employee. The way she spoke, it sounded as though I would be expected to work not according to the established care plan, but rather according to some arbitrary set of rules. We are all different, of course—but even from the very first introduction, an employee should not be made to feel like a nobody within the home care system.
