Here I will tell you how they scammed us... I went there to order glasses for my lovely son. I’ve never needed prescription glasses myself, so I don’t have much experience in this field. We already had a prescription and only needed simple glasses — nothing special. Our insurance does not cover much (about $150 total). We did not like the limited frame options covered by insurance, so I said that since this was his first pair and he would use them for a long time, I would pay for the frame myself. We selected the frame that looked best on my son’s face. When discussing pricing, they told us the frame was an expensive one costing $500, and offered us a “50% discount” on it if we ordered the lenses with them. They also said they could not combine their store discount with the insurance-covered glasses. Because of that, we decided to go with anti-reflective transition lenses as well. In the end, they charged us $549 total, supposedly including the “50% discounted” frame. Today we received the glasses. I don’t know why, but I expected a $500 frame to at least have smooth hinges and an original branded case. Instead, I was disappointed with the quality and the cheap shop-branded $2 case. So I started researching and found out the frame is not a $500 frame at all. Nordstrom and Macy’s sell it for around $196, and there are dozens of websites offering it for around $110. Compared to Ray-Ban pricing, maybe the final amount could still make sense. Let’s say anti-reflective transition glasses cost around $300–$350, plus a $196 frame and taxes — we could roughly end up near the $549 we paid. But hey… where exactly was the “50% discount” on the frame??? They never even provided a proper price breakdown. Everything was written only on a piece of paper at the table while showing us their “super-duper 50% discount.” Thank you guys for your service ;)
