Advanced Medical Care

I had my first neurology appointment at Advanced Medical Care today, and unfortunately, my experience was not the best. I arrived at 3:18 PM for my 3:30 PM appointment. The young woman who checked me in and collected my insurance card, ID, and copay was pleasant and professional. However, another staff member near the entrance to the medical area was extremely rude to a patient. She was loud, unprofessional, and condescending, which immediately created an uncomfortable environment and left a bad first impression. I was not called in by the nurse until 4:20 PM, nearly an hour after my scheduled appointment time. The nurse herself was kind, but there were several concerns. She did not introduce herself, so I’m unsure of her name, and she did not verify my identity or date of birth, which is concerning in a medical setting. During intake, I had to spell out my medications, and she did not seem very familiar with them. The process also felt disorganized and took close to 30 minutes. The door to the room remained wide open, and we were interrupted three times—once while she was taking my vitals to assist another patient, and twice more for questions related to other matters. This made the experience feel rushed, distracted, and lacking in privacy. Dr. Lempert herself was pleasant. However, she also did not introduce herself and simply sat down and asked what she could help me with. The appointment felt rushed, but she did order bloodwork and an MRI, which is ultimately what I needed. The bloodwork experience was also unusual. The phlebotomist used a chair to place the vials and supplies and a pillow under my arm instead of a proper setup. During this time, another staff member came in to mention there was an argument at the front desk involving a patient with a dog. When I suggested it might be a service dog, they seemed unsure of what that was, which was surprising in a healthcare setting. Overall, this visit felt disorganized and unprofessional at multiple points. As a first-time patient, it left me uneasy, and I will likely not be returning.

Extremely negative experience. The level of rudeness at the front desk was shocking. The reception staff were openly dismissive, spoke in a harsh tone, and showed clear disrespect toward patients. I remained calm and polite, yet I was met with irritation and condescension. It genuinely felt like patients were an inconvenience to them. I waited over an hour to see the doctor. During that time, I overheard staff raising their voices and speaking rudely to patients over the phone. The environment felt hostile and unprofessional. I originally intended to receive physical therapy here, but after this experience I chose to go elsewhere. Basic respect toward patients should not be optional in a medical facility. Management seriously needs to address staff behavior and professionalism.
