I recently went to a dental appointment through my union insurance from my job, and the experience was completely different from what I received at 125th St. Dental. The hygienist at my union dentist spent almost an hour thoroughly cleaning and scraping my teeth. I was honestly shocked because I had never experienced that level of care before. At 125th St. Dental, my cleanings usually lasted only about 20–30 minutes, and I was always told my teeth were “fine” when they really weren’t. I would leave the office still feeling buildup and gunk on my teeth, which should not happen after a professional cleaning. After finally experiencing what a real dental cleaning feels like, I realized how rushed and incomplete my past visits were. Personally, I would not recommend this place based on my experience. Another thing I noticed is that they seem to focus more on doing X-rays every six months than actually cleaning your teeth properly. They spend so much time taking X-rays, sometimes close to an hour total during the visit, but then rush through the actual cleaning in only 20–30 minutes. To me, that makes no sense. The main focus should be on thoroughly cleaning patients’ teeth, especially when there is obvious buildup still left behind afterward. I would leave appointments still feeling gunk on my teeth, while at another dentist through my union insurance, they spent almost an hour carefully cleaning and scraping my teeth the right way. After experiencing the difference, I realized how rushed and incomplete the care felt here.
